LESSON LEARNED: Failure can spawn creativity

This is the essence of what we at Cautionary Fail are invested in. That something good or interesting that can be gleamed from the down moments.

Hack A Day is having a contest a la Twitter. When down for server maintenance, the iconic Fail Whale has been put up as a placeholder instead of the regularly scheduled social networking website.

The whale has apparently become such an icon that it has spawned its own fan blog at failwhale.com and it is all owed to artist Yiying Lu who has made branded mugs, shirts, and babies available.

In any case, the results of the contest can be viewed on their flickr group here. Add an entry!
